Winter, Partridge Nab Jane Addams Children's Book Awards

Nasreen's Secret School: A True Story from AfghanistanA picture book about the changes in Afghanistan after the Taliban came to power and a nonfiction book about the role of African-American children during the civil rights movement are winners of this year’s Jane Addams Children's Book Awards, which honor books that engage children in thinking about peace, justice, world community, and equality of the sexes and all races.
Marching For Freedom: Walk Together Children and Don't You Grow WearyJeanette Winter’s Nasreen’s Secret School: A True Story from Afghanistan (S & S)is the winner in the younger children category, while Elizabeth Partridge’s Marching for Freedom: Walk Together, Children, and Don’t You Grow Weary (Viking) won in the books for older children category.
